Why I became a coach: I swore I’d never do it having managed a mens team and seen the stress. However, I started reffing games and then at one tournament Lee asked if I’d help as Mark had broken his ankle. When I said yes I was presented with a club jacket immediately and told “you’re doing it full time now!”.

Why I remain a coach: Cliched, but the boys. I love watching them develop as players and people. Friends say I talk about them not like I’ve got one child in the team but 27 and it genuinely feels that way.

Proudest moment: There’s one every week. When you show the boys something and then they do it in the game, it’s so rewarding. When my son finally acknowledged I could coach and wasn’t just telling him what to do as “dad” was quite good as well.

Hopes for the club: For our team, I want to see the boys go through the age groups together and be the best players and people they can be, enjoying it all the way. For the club, to one day get a permanent single home with a clubhouse to sustain it for years to come.

Inspirational quote: You win together. You can lose together, but as one team, you’re more likely to win. Always believe!  That and "Steve, you can reach it, just jump!"
